A hen party can be a significant occasion. It’s the last time that the bride-to-be will go out for drinks as a single lady, and so it’s only appropriate that the night be made as special as possible. This means, among other things, picking out the right location.
Happily, there are plenty of places in the UK that will fit the bill nicely, and for the most part, it isn’t necessary to travel far to reach them. Let’s take a look at a few standouts.
Brighton
If you’re in the south and fancy a seaside break, then Brighton is sure to appeal. You’ll be able to spend time by the beach in the daytime, and then take advantage of some of the city’s unique nightlife during the evening. It’s a famously welcoming place with plenty of culture that you won’t find elsewhere, and there are sightseeing and shopping opportunities everywhere.
Leeds
If you’re in the north, on the other hand, it’s difficult to beat Leeds. There’s vibrant nightlife here, with several big-name clubs and bars having established a reputation in the city.
If you’re planning a trip to Leeds, then it makes sense to take the train. The station is fairly central, and most of the attractions worth seeing are within walking distance of it. You can get a train from Hull to Leeds and be there in less than an hour and a half.
Liverpool
Liverpool is a city with an obvious association with music, and many of the city’s more popular destinations reflect that association. A visit to the famous Cavern Club, if you haven’t visited, is a must. If you’d prefer a spot of theatre, on the other hand, then there’s the Shakespeare North Playhouse, which proves that you don’t have to travel to Stratford or London to get an authentic slice of Elizabethan theatre.
Manchester
Not far from Liverpool we find Manchester, which absolutely must be included on any list of English hen-do locations. There are traditional pubs crammed into every corner, as well as bustling underground nightclubs and towering restaurants like Cloud 23.
Newcastle
If you’re in the north and looking for a small city with a big, bustling nightlife, then Newcastle is the place to be. The Diamond Strip is the club for those who fancy a slice of the high life – or there’s the infamous Bigg Market for those who prefer something a little rowdier.
