Are you in the process of planning your big day? Whether you’re going big or keeping things intimate, you’ll be hard pushed to get things completely wrong. With the dressing up, dancing and special time with loved ones, what’s not to like? But if you want to make yours particularly memorable, there are plenty of touches that can make the event more special for you and your guests.

After all, it’s easy for weddings to blend into one if you go to a lot of them. Over 270,000 take place in the UK in the average year – and it’s common to attend a handful in that time once you reach a certain age.

Read five ways to make sure your wedding stands out from the crowd below.

Throw a party to remember

With all the organising and formalities that go into the first part of the day, it’s common for people to feel more relaxed and ready to unwind in the evening. You could hire a unique DJ or band or curate the perfect playlist – then add extras like lasers and smoke effects. Why not hand out glowsticks or instruments to guests too?

Add welcoming touches for guests

While you’ll naturally be the focus of attention on your wedding day, adding bespoke touches for guests will help them feel welcomed and valued. You could go to extra lengths for those that travel from afar, like making a funny and informative leaflet with photos and local area tips.

Even a simple handwritten message on each table will make sure your invitees feel involved.

Offer fun food and drinks

Catering is a huge part of any wedding, and there are lots of opportunities to wow beyond the meal itself.

Putting a signature cocktail on the menu is one way to show off your brand as a couple. You could also include popcorn or sweet stations if there’ll be lots of kids attending, while sushi and even oysters will cater to your more sophisticated guests.

An ice cream bar could go down a storm if you’re getting hitched in summer!

Introduce a game or two

Games are a great way to get your guests out of their seats and talk to each other. Scavenger hunts and ring tosses are perfect for large outdoor weddings, while even a simple game of twister will get people going inside. Or how about an old-fashioned coconut shy and some rented arcade games?

Make a grand exit

You might be desperate to get away on a honeymoon – especially if you’ve spent over the UK average of £4,500 on it. But you can’t leave without making a grand exit first!

You could have a classic vehicle or supercar waiting to whisk you away – or leave in a puff of smoke and confetti. Either way, make sure someone rounds up your guests so everyone sees the grand finale!

Could any of these ideas take your wedding to the next level?
